Mark Singleton

Mark SingletonMark Singleton began his conducting career at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, where he received his undergraduate degree in cello performance and church music. In Missouri, Singleton served as associate conductor of the Liberty Symphony Orchestra, conductor and founder of the Consort Singers, conducting intern of the Kansas City Chorale and director of music at Winnwood Baptist Church.

Singleton has pursued conducting studies at the Robert Shaw Festival, the Dennis Keene Festival and the Conductors Institute of South Carolina, and has studied with conductors Charles Bruffy, Arnold Epley, Vance George, Dennis Keene, Philip C. Posey, and Robert Page. He completed his master of music degree in choral conducting at the University of Connecticut under Peter Bagley.

In addition to teaching at the University of Connecticut, Singleton serves as conductor of the Vernon Chorale and conductor of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Chorus. He is tenor section leader at Immanuel Congregational Church under Larry Allen. Singleton has served as guest clinician and conductor for festivals and workshops throughout the greater New England area and has conducted choruses throughout the United States and abroad. Singleton gained international acclaim after his invitation to prepare the National Symphony and Symphony Chorus of Beijing, China, in Verdi’s Requiem.
