Performer's Certificates
Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, and Percussion
Admission Requirements
1. Applicants must submit transcripts of all collegiate-level study.
2. Applicants from countries other than the United States must submit the results of the TOEFL examination showing a score of 450 or higher.
3. A personal audition is required.
4. All applicants must complete the university's Certificate Application Form, available from the Graduate School.
Financial aid
Financial Aid may be available for outstanding applicants. In order to apply for financial aid, students should write a personal letter requesting financial assistance at the time of application.
Required curriculum
Eight credits of Music 323, Applied Music (four credits per semester for two semesters)
Two credits of Music 305, Orchestra or Wind Ensemble (one credit per semester for two semesters)
Two credits of Music 300, Special Topics - Accompanying (one credit per semester for two semesters)
Other requirements
One public recital is required. The recital will usually be presented during the spring semester and carries no academic credit.
Note: Credits earned in a certificate program may not be applied to any degree program at the University of Connecticut.
