In addition to a wide range of professional training and performance activities, the UConn Opera Theater participates in a multifaceted outreach program. Past outreaches have included trips to schools and libraries featuring Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel and other children's programs.

Other outreach programs involving Opera Scene performance have taken place throughout Connecticut in various venues.

Students studying voice at UCONN have many chances to perform. Not only are there many campus-based concerts and events, but UCONN students are invited to audition for the Connecticut Opera Chorus, or the Apprentice Program. UCONN Students have won many competitions and awards, including Metropolitan Opera Audition prizes as well as NATS Honors Auditions, Amici Competition, UConn's Concerto Competition, Quinnipiac Competition, Leontyne Price Competition, and the Rosa Ponselle Award.

Regular master classes and workshops are a weekly part of the vocal program. Guest classes have featured Austin Lyric Opera General Director Joseph McClain, Director Franz Boerlage, Benita Valente, Sherryl Milnes, Paula Page, Charles Robert Stephens, Roger Brunyante, Lucy Shelton, and others.
