Kenny DavisKenny Davis has extensive experience as a jazz musician, having performed with such artists as Freddie Hubbard, Cassandra Wilson, Abbey Lincoln, Dianne Reeves, Herbie Hancock, and Art Farmer. He has toured in the United States, Central America, Asia, Australia, Africa, and Europe. From September 1999 through March 2002, he was the bassist of the Tonight Show band with musical director Kevin Eubanks.

Davis earned a bachelor of arts degree in music education at Northeastern Illinois University and a master's degree in jazz studies at Rutgers University. He has studied string bass with Warren Benfield of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Jeff Bradetich, currently of the University of North Texas. His jazz mentors include Ron Carter and Dave Holland.

In addition to his responsibilities in the Department of Music, Davis serves on the Advisory Board of the Institute for African American Studies. Davis teaches string bass, jazz history, small jazz ensembles and improvisation at the University of Connecticut.
